Thermoelectric Generator with Passive Biphasic Thermosyphon Heat Exchanger for Waste Heat Recovery: Design and Experimentation

One of the measures to fight against current energy situation and reduce consumption at an industrial process is recover waste heat transform it into electric power. Thermoelectric generators can be used for that purpose but there a lack experimental studies bring this technology closer reality. This work presents design, optimizations development two devices are experimented compared under same working conditions. The hot side exchanger both has been designed using computational fluid dynamics software cold technologies have analysed: finned dissipater uses fan free convection biphasic thermosyphon. results obtained show maximum net generation 6.9W in thermoelectric generator with dissipater; 10.6W power output These remark importance proper design exchangers, trying get low thermal resistances sides modules, as well as, necessity considering auxiliary equipment employed.
